26th June: Sadly not many riders turned up for the club day. The hope was that with Somersby on the Saturday and Kurri Kurri on the Sunday the events would be treated as a double header with riders taking the opportunity of two rides on the weekend. This has not turned out to be the case as the numbers of riders at Kurri and the lack at Somersby shows. On the plus side Ellis Perks and his family are keen. Great to see them make the trip from Queensland to have a run at Somersby.
10th June: A new junior speedway frame with design input from Leigh Adams has been unveiled. He has personally been in constant contact with the UK manufacturer JHR making sure that the specifications are going to be perfect for the motors and Australian conditions.
The frame will have leading link forks, straight back end and a single rear downtube to accommodate the side port engines. There will be two optional back ends in the future to allow for the Under 16's when they get too tall for a standard junior frame.
The engines will be Jailing 125 cc, which are really new 125cc Honda's that are currently being used in Australia now. Riders like, Crump, Adams, Sullivan, Chris Holder and many more all started out on just this type of bike. These engines will be stock standard with new 24mm carbies as per Australian rules on these engines.
The price will be $4,500 and a number have already been sold. Motorcycling SA have also purchased one for their promo and Come N Try days.
These will be the ideal first bike for newcomers to speedway and as the junior gets better in his or her riding, modifications can be made to the engine to increase the power.
